GMC Repair: Turn Signal continuely clicks while driving., gmc jimmy, assembley

Question
I have 1998 GMC Jimmy with only 79000 miles on it and I'm the original owner.  My turn signal continuely clicks while I am driving.  It stop clicking went I press the brakes. I was told that it could be the turn signal assembley on the steering wheel that bad.  What do you think?  and how much should this problem cost me?  The clicking noise stop in the summer because of where I lived is very very hot, now that fall/winter and it starting to get alot colder the clicking start back up.  I had a mechanic look at this problem about year ago and he could not find the problem...
Help please...
Thanks,

Answer
Something makes no sense here.

Applying the barke has no effect and or realtion to the turn signal assembly in the steering column.

Try this test. Next time you hear this clicking put your left foot UNDERNEATH the brake pedal and lift the brake pedal UP towards you and listen to hear if the clicking stops.

Let me know.
