GMC Repair: 1996 Pontiac Trans Sport Front Wipers, pontiac trans sport, motor assembly

Question
Greetings.

1996 Pontiac Trans Sport.

The front wipers start running at regular speed as soon as ignition switch is turned on (with wipers switched off)

Delay wiping not working but wiper high speed kicks in when wiper switch is placed on high-speed position.

Washer fluid pump runs when activated.

Only way to stop wipers is to turn ignition switch off or remove the wiper fuse (and the wipers stop wherever they are)

Never had a wiper problem before.

Is this a wiper control problem or is the internal motor assembly circuitry at fault?

Many thanks,
M. Belanger.

Answer
This could be caused by a corroded ground strap of which is secured to the wiper motor body and is looped over one of the bolts that holds the motor to the vehicles firewall.

Remove each bolt ONE AT A TIME and use a small wire brush and clean the bolts and clean the threads in the firewall as well.

this is a very common fault.

Has there been ANY other mechanical work performed on the vehicle recently ?.
