GMC Repair: fuel pump, retainer ring, gas tank

Question
I have a 1992 1/2 ton pickup that may have the fuel pump gone bad. How do I first check to make shure it's bad and if it is how to change. Thanks. Also the truck has 196000 miles on it and the fuel filter or pump has never been chenged.

if the truck is not pumping gas more than likely it is the fuel pump . with the miles you have also tells you this . it is in the gas tank you must remove the gas tank straps drop the tank a retainer ring on top of tank is where the fuel pump is and remove the pump will pull out of tank and just on plug the wire pete
