GMC Repair: braking problem, pice, brake pads

Question
HI there

I have a 95 S-10 Zr2. put new front brake pads on about 6 months ago, no problems. Now it has started to make a deep grinding/rubbing sound when i brake. The front brakes LOOK ok. The rears have some life left. I dont think they have every been changed, the truck has 150,000 miles on it.  Any Ideas?

Thanks

p.s. one other quick question... when i put the truck into reverse, it takes about 3-6 seconds before it pops into gear. Its an auto with a 4.3

Matt

Answer
Whe you inspected the brakes, I bet you only looked at the OUTSIDE pad and NOT the INBOARD pad . Pull the tire ans physically inspect BOTH ineer and outer pads.

You could have a pice of foreign debris in the low/reverse drum and or a leaking seal. I would try changing the fluid and filter.
