GMC Repair: Timing chain/possible fuel problem, distributer cap, crank shaft

Question
I have a picture of what I believe to be the carburator at the fallowing address: http://www.tilt-rotor.com/IMG_4828small.JPG

For your question about the fuel pressure and volume: I have had my wife turn over the engine and have seen the fuel dump into the ports where the butterfly valves are located. My thinking is that if the fuel pump, fuel pump relay is out, or the filter is clog that there would not be enough pressure to make the fuel dump into the ports.

AS for your other question about the spark to the plugs I have taken each of the plug wires off, along w/ the coil wire and seen sparks jump for the wires to the plug. I hope this will help you.

Question 2> If I turn the engine by the crank shaft until the timing marks line up to the correct marks for tdc for the number one cynider then take of the distributer cap should'en the roter be aliged w/ the number one plug? And if they are not aligned and on another cynider than could the timing have jumped to make the engine quit like it did?------------------------

Question -
I have an 93 gmc surburban w/ a 350 5.7l engine.
I was on the highway traveling when going up hills and putting a load on the engine when it started to lurch/misfire while going up the hills as if a fuel filter was clog. This became frequent and on the straight aways untill the engine misfired twice while going up a hill and then quit all together.
I have fuel to the carburator, spark to the plugs and the engine will turn over, but will not start.
I have ran a code summary on the computer w/ no  no codes showing up.
I was wondering if this could be a slipped timing chain, or a clog in the carburator.
How can I make sure without taking the engine apart, or could there be another reason causing the problem?

Answer -
This year of vehicle does NOT have a carburator. !!!

HOW did you determine that you have sufficient fuel PRESSURE and VOLUME ?.

How did you determine that you have sufficient IGNITION to ALL the spark plugs ?.

Please elaborate in great detail.

Timing chain is VERY DOUBTFUL.

Answer
OK I saw the picture and what you have is a TBI (Throttle BODY INJECTION) system.

Pull some spark plugs and see if they are BLACK or fuel soaked at the electrode ends.

Again make SURE your on the COMPRESSION side of cylinder # 1 and what is the firing order of this engine ?. It is usually machine stamped on the intake manifold.

Did you verify that the dist rotor is turning when the engine is being cranked over ?.

What is this vehicles PAST repair history ?.

Are you sure that you have # 1 cylinder on the COMPRESSION stroke or do you have it on the EXHAUST stroke ?. If you are on the EXHAUST stroke, Yes the dist rotor will not be pointing to the # 1 cylinder.

What is the FIRING ORDER of the engine ?.
