GMC Repair: Intermittant windshield wiper operation, 1997 oldsmobile bravada, windshield wiper operation

Question
Hello- I own a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada SUV -4 wheel drive. It has 4.3 litre engine. The windshield wipers stop working  once they have been on for awhile. (but not always)!! Occasionally after driving out of a carwash they wont rurn on for awhile as well. When they dont work ,I can hear a sound as though the wiper engine is working but the blades are not moving. Its a sort of a humming, buzzing sound. I have had the control  knob replaced ,the one that has everything on it by the steering wheel. (cruise control, headlights, dimmer, and wiper settings. )
I just checked the connectors to the wiper engine. That appears fine, the arms that move the blades are nice and tight, and the wiper transmission appears to work fine. Everything is tight there as well.

Could it be the wiper motor itself or is there another relay that is not functioning somewhere that I dont know about ?
Before I replace the wiper motor itself ,I would appreciate your input. The vehicle has just gone over 1oo K miles but has had excellent care and is running good otherwise. What do you think  might cause this cutting out of the wipers ?
Sometimes after stopping the car even for a short time and then turning everything back on makes the windshiled wipers come one again, but after about 5 to 10 minutes in operation they stop again ?

Thanks for any info !

Carl

Answer
This is one of GM typical problems. Replace the entire wiper motor and the CONTROL BOARD that does NOT come with the motor. The control board just plugs in beneath the plastic cover that you have to remove.

1. Buy a new motor.
2. Buy a new control board.
3. Remove the single screw on the plastic cover on the
  front of the motor.

4. Plug in the control board.
5. Replace the plastic cover and screw.
6. Install the motor on the vehicle.
7. Plug in the wiring connector.
