GMC Repair: 84 Gmc, e mail address, stop signs

I have a 84 Gmc that runs fine when engine is cool but at times when it starts to warm up and going hiway speeds will back fire and at around 15 miles traveled ( engine good and warmed up) will kill at stop signs etc.I do not have these problems all the time. I have been able to restart after couple minutes of cranking. New plugs, new fuel filter, new fuel pump and I found a plug wire that was shorting which I replaced Thanks for any help. Brad

What size engine ?. Has the CHECK ENGINE light EVER illuminated while you were driving the vehicle at any time ?.
