GMC Repair: Problem with lights, replacement bulbs, turn signals

Question
Hello. Thank you so much for your assistance. I have a 1991 1/2 ton truck with the 5.7l engine. I have recently had a problem that leaves me stumped. I was having some problems with my tail lights as one was burnt out. About a week later the second tali light burnt out. I bout some replacement bulbs but when I went to replace them they appeared to be fine and neither bulb looked broken inside. I checked the fuses and once again no fuses appeared to be blown (no noticable breaks). After doing this my turn signal lights went out and haven't come back. My hazard stop blinker lights work fine, but when I try using my turn signals I get no response. I don't even get anything on the dash telling me I am even using my turn signals. I realize this may be something simple but I can't figure it out for the life of me. I did notice there were a fuse or two that was not the proper ampage. However, I was told that that could not be the cause. Any help you could give me, and ways I could test to see what it may be, or how to fix it would be GREATLY appreciated as I am stumped good this time around. Thanks a million.

PS: I have also noticed the "check gauges" light flash on my dash recently on turns, along with the "service engine soon" light at high speeds, although I am not certain either is related to this. Thanks again

Respectfully,

Answer
OK, The TAIL LIGHTS are a completely different circuit from your STOP AND TURN SIGNALS of which share a circuit.

I need to know if you are POSITIVE that you CORRECTLY installed the correct bulbs that you replaced.

Turn the head lights ON and see if your have FRONT parking lamps ON and then see if you have TAIL LIGHTS and or your license plates light(s) is working.

Next try your turn signals and put the turn signal lever in either the RIGHT or LEFT position and walk to the front of the vehicle and see if the turn signal light is ON, But NOT flashing.

let me know what you find out.
