GMC Repair: 1990 GMC Safari Van installing a starter, gmc safari, safari van

Question
I am trying to install a starter in a 1990 GMC Safari Van.  I get it installed and it seems to be correct and then it won't turn over.  I feel it is the groundwire but really not have any experience in installing a starter in this type of vehicle.  Can you give me any advise?

There is NO GROUND WIRE for the starter.

If you have the ability to e-mail pictures of the starter and if you can also get me pictures of the wiring that connects to the starter via crawling under the vehicle to take them these will be very helpful in sorting out what wire goes where.
