GMC Repair: Removal of Power Steering Pump, air fuel mixture, power steering pump

Question -
I'm installing new headers on my 93' GMC Sierra 1/2 Ton Pickup 4x2 5.7L V8. On the driver side It's apparent you must remove the Power Steering bracket that holds the pump before you can remove the intake manifold on the driver's side. Could you give me a step by step process on how to pull the power steering pump, pulley, etc.? I assume you have to pull the fan shroud cover, remove the fan blade, etc. before getting to pump. My son and I used a power steering pulley puller only once on his Ford Taurus and didn't know if the pullers are universal to use on other vehicles.
Also, one more question please, can you remove and replace the resinator (big black plastic box) between the air cleaner and the right quarter panel plastic vent with a straight piece of plastic tubing between these parts to serve as a straight cold intake. Would like to increase flow and horsepower. Would this hurt the air/fuel mixture or any computer readings if the resinator was gone/replaced in this fashion?
THANKS!

You stated "My son and I used a power steering pulley puller only once on his Ford Taurus and didn't know if the pullers are universal to use on other vehicles.

Do NOT try this on a GM pump pulley as you will bend the pulley 9 out of 10 times.

There are special tools available for the removal and installation of the pulley. Some aut parts stores carry them. Some repair facilities MIGHT loan you the tools for a small fee and a hefty deposit of which will be returned to you upon return of the tools.

I do NOT recommend any type of modification beyond what the manufacturer recommends.

Answer
As the the air intake system as designed by the manufacturer, I do not recommend making any alterations of the air intake system. The vehicle was designed and set up incorporating this air box system and I suggest that you do not alter it as it may have an effect on the vehicles emissions system as well as the performance of the vehicle.
