Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Sentra, nissan sentra, center bolt

Question
How to change the alternator belt step by step

Answer
Hi Jerrel -

Not sure what size your engine is, but usually the steps are the same.

If there are belts in front of the alternator, you must remove them first before starting.

There should be an adjustment idler pulley. Find that and loosen both the center bolt and the adjusting bolt. Some models there are not idler pulleys, that being the case all the sdjustment bolts are on the alternator itself. There should be one (either 10 or 12mm) bolt that is very long and serves as the adjustment bolt. There are 2 more that needs to be loosened to get the belt off, one is the pivot bolt that holds the alternator to the engine block, and the other is near the adjustment bolt.

Hope this helps -
