Alfa Romeo Repair: alfa problem, battery terminals, fuel pump

Question
87 spyder...wont start for a while after sitting. Sometimes have to crank it a few times, then leave it, and  come back and crank and it starts.  Does not try to catch.   Been in the shop couple of times but it does not act up then.   Hep me please.  SS

Answer
This is most typical of a failing fuel pump. And that is the first thing I would check if the vehicle was in my shop.

Do this: next time it wont start keep cranking for 10 to 15 seconds and then pull a spark plug to see if it is dry, if it is , you need a fuel pump. If it is wet, write me again.

Another thing, the battery terminals are clean, right. If not, clean them now.
