Alfa Romeo Repair: Alfa 156 clutch slave cylinders popping, clutch slave cylinders, clutch pack

Question
Hi, my other half has a '98 156 2.5 V6. He had the clutch replaced about 8 months ago and started suffering a problem of the clutch pedal sitting on the floor 1st thing in the morning. It was also crunching going into 3rd gear. He has ended up having all th eclutch hydraulics replaced but has had 3 slave cylinders fail. His car is currently sitting waiting or the 4th one to go on as is undriveable with all the fluid sat on the floor underneath! Our Alfa specialists have run out of ideas, please help!!
Many thanks

Answer
The clutch pack could be defective and require too much pressure to release. But, it just might be that the hydraulic fluid is incompatible with the seals in the slave cylinder which is why I always recommend Castrol LMA.

From this distance I suspect a defective clutch pack or a bent release lever.
