Land Rover Repair: REFILLING RADIATOR Td5 1999, air locks, td5 engine

Question
I just want to know HOW TO drain the Radiator on a Td5 engine (Eng. No. 1-P18610A)and then how to re-fill the radiator with Anti-Freeze (50% Mixture). The Handbook does not want to "tell you how" - they just want you to go to an expensive L/Rover service agent - just to drain and refill the Radiator! I notice that there are some 'Bleeder?" valves set into the upper Hoses, and with all the special "cooling facilities" i do not want to risk engine-damage by leaving various air-locks in the system. (I have not yet been able to identify the correct Workshop Manual for my vehicle - VIN: SALL DHM 87X F83 1439  Defender 110

Answer
You can drain the system by removing the lower hose.  There are also drains in the engine block.

We use a vacuum filling system to avoid getting air pockets.

As to finding a workshop manual, did you know you can subscribe to online access at Land Rover's official site, www.landrovertechinfo.com ?
