Alfa Romeo Repair: No heat!, radiator cap, fuse box

Question
Hi Stephen,
Thanks in advance for responding to my question. I purchased the '91 Spider
on E bay and drove back to St. Louis 4 yrs. ago. Since it was in the dead of
summer, I never checked the hear only to find out 6mos. later that I get cold
air only. Blower is fine, works on both low and high speed. However, temp
dial is on max heat and it is still cold. Not sure if I am getting coolant up
through the heater core. Is there an easy check / fix?
Also, a few nights ago while driving home from Game 4 of the World Series, I
noticed my blinker indicator was flashing intermittently and then lost my
blinkers. Replaced the fuse this morning and they work again , however I still
experience this intermittent indicator light flashing again and can hear the
flasher clicking at the same time. Almost like a short. Is the flasher located up
in the fuse box and can that be the culprit? In the fuse box there is a brown
colored plug in type component, and I can feel it click when I activate the
signals.I found the turn signal flasher listed in the IAP Catalog but am not
sure if that is the right part.

Answer
Yes, the brown unit is the flasher. Pull it out and describe it to the IAP Rep.

Re: the heat problem
First open the radiator cap and make sure there is fluid to the top of the radiator. If so, then disconnect the hoses leading to the heater and flush with a garden hose backwards to the flow--it goes to the water pump.
