Alfa Romeo Repair: 74 Alfa Spider - squeeking/chirping sound, facet fuel pump, alfa spider

Question
Hello...my 74 Spider just underwent a complete engine rebuild and runs and pulls like new...however, it has developed (from day one with the newly rebuilt engine installed) a continuous squeaking or chirping (honestly sounds like a small bird was unfortunately closed up in the motor).  The sound seems loudest (it is quite loud) at the rear of the block near the bell housing and more so toward the carb area (passenger side of the car) - so basically at the firewall, and increases in speed with revs.  At idle it chirps with the loping of the engine, and never changes in pitch regardless of rev.  I have ruled out clutch/tranny as it is not effected by shifting or engaging/disengaging of the clutch, and originally thought it might be vacuum related (it sounds like air bing sucked through a very small aperture causing a whistling or chirping sound.  I used some soapy water at every possible connection to no avail, have inspected the carbs, manifold, fuel lines, etc to no avail.  I have an issue with the Facet fuel pump periodically not priming properly which I though might be related and will be changing the pump out soon anyhow, but it doesn't seem to vary with that problem so I'm assuming its not related to fuel delivery.  Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Answer
Concerning the fuel pump: look for cracked hoses on the suction side, if found, replace all fuel line hoses.

Re: the engine.  Soapy water will not do it. White lube spray will block an air leak fir awhile.  Judicous use of propane or starter fluid will momentarily speed up the engine but, watch for migration to the carb intakes.
