American Motors: 79 AMC Concord OIl Pump & RMS, pan gasket, oil pump

Changing the RMS looks like it'll require my removing the transmission.  True?  However I do it, when I have the oil pan off, should I go ahead and change the oil pump?  The car has 110K miles.

Yes, you will have to remove the transmission.
The oil pump is subjective. It has been submerged in oil for 110,000 miles; it probably isn't worn excessively. However, being that you are in there anyway, go ahead and replace it. You are going to have to replace the oil pan gasket, too. Don't use a cork gasket for the pan, it will leak.
