American Motors: blue smoke, valve seals, smog check

Question
I recently went for a smog check after I had replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, accelerator pump, checked the timing(6BTC). When I went to get the 1981 Jeep CJ7 smogged, blue smoke began to appear. The vehicle runs good, idles smoothly. COs way too high. Do you have any ideas. Someone told me that the float might be too high???? Any ideas?

Answer
Blue smoke is usually caused by excessive oil burning by worn out valve seals or piston rings.

However, Check your oil and see if it is over full or is real thin to the touch or smells like oil.

If your float was to high after the car was warmed up and shut off, You would be able to see some gas dripping down into the engine while looking down the carb.
