American Motors: engine date code on 78 CJ7 304, fiter, oil filters

I recently purchased a 1978 CJ7 with a 304 V8.  I have been having problems finding parts to fit for that year.  The oil filter for a 78 304 will not fit.  I think it may be a different year motor.  The date code is 810H06.  Any help in decoding this will be appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply.
I was unable to find my literature that has the engine date decoder information. The tag is for a 304 engine, I beleive it was manufactured October 6, 1978. I may be wrong, though.
I don't understand why you are having a problem finding parts for it. The only difference in oil filters is they went to a short fiter I sometime in the mid 70's. Both filters will fit your V-8.
