American Motors: oil pressure sensor and gauge, oil pressure gauge, amc 360

Question
I have an '85 CJ7, with an '83 AMC 360 engine. Lots of horsepower and torque and all that. But... I still have the mechanical oil pressure sensor and gauge. A mechanic recently recommended that I change it all out to an electric rig, for no other reason than safety... don't have to worry about a rupturing that oil pressure tubing.

What can you recommend in terms of what I need to buy, and whether there is any unusual retrofit requirements.

Answer
Kirk,
I believe your CJ came with an electronic oil pressure gauge. If not, you can purchase one online or at your local parts store. You will have to install a different oil pressure sensor that works with an electronic gauge. It takes the place of the oil line you now  have. Then all you have to do is run a few wires to the gauge you mount inside, just follow the instructions that come with the gauge. I prefer an electronic gauge for the same reason, if your wire gets cut while off road, you don't loose you oil!. Good Luck
