American Motors: 84 CJ-7 258/6cyl, amc 258, amc engines

Kevin, I have read some of your postings and found them very informative. The question I have is will a M2100 Motorcraft carb work on a AMC 258/6cyl in a '84 CJ-7? I have read that it will work and is better for use in off-roading. What year of a Ford can I find this type of carb?

Though I have never installed a Motorcraft 2100 on a 258 AMC engine, I have rebuilt MANY of these carburetors. The bolt pattern is different between your present Carter BBS and the 2100. You will need an adapter, check your local parts store or online. Find an AMC/Jeep V-8 to get a 2100. 304/360 AMC engines from 1970 on used the 2100. I would recommend a reman or rebuilt unit from an auto parts store  or eBay.
