Audio Systems: Prius C & audiobooks, chrysler pt cruiser, terminal diagnosis

Question
QUESTION: Ernesto,
I hope you can help.  New Prius C with Entune works well with Droid for hands free phone calling but iPod with USB connection for audio books is making me crazy. Once the USB cord is connected to the provided jack, the iPod controls no longer work -- no rewind, no easy way to shut off, etc. Here's what I want:  I want the audio device to turn on when I turn the car on and off when I kill the ignition. Is that possible?
Background: I am a 66 year old retired corporate type who worked in IT and am reasonably tech savvy. Now I work as a senior care manager -- lots of time in the car. I have been an audio book user for 24 years, upgrading from cassettes to CDs to iPod along the way.  In my PTCruiser, I used one of those FM radio interface kits with an 8GB 2007 iteration of the iPod, and overall that combo met my requirements. After almost 13 years, my faithful PT got a terminal diagnosis and I bought the Prius. (Obviously I keep my cars a LONG time.) New car has many features that I like, but I need to solve this audio-book interface issue.  Do I need a newer iPod?  Some other after-market gadget?  Thanks in advance.

ANSWER: Please tell me more about your iPod and the vehicle the audio system in the 2002 prius with the navigation under the seat is very far away to the 2013 audio system

I own and Prius before and now i drive a Chrysler pt cruiser GT  so i know both audio systems very good

QUESTION: Sorry I did not make myself clear.  I own a 2012 Prius C with Entune.  I use an 8GB iPod that is now 6 years old. I want to be able to plug the iPod into the provided USB jack in the car and listen to my audio books.  But when I plug the iPod into the USB jack, the iPod controls no longer work on the iPod and there are no corresponding controls in the car's media interface.

In my old PTCruiser, I used the same iPod and one of those FM radio interface kits that plug into a power outlet.  It was not perfect, but it worked better than what I have now.

My questions:  (1)  Is ther something I am doing wrong in the Prius?  (2)  Do I need a new iPod?  (3) Is there an after-market gadget that would work better?  If yes, what is it?

Thank you.

Answer
Sorry for the delay , your factory interface needs to be updated or you can replace it with something better
