Audio Systems: monsoon radio system, 2000 camaro ss, second guess

I have a 2000 camaro ss with the monsoon radio system. When you get in the car and start the radio and cd audio work. When you shut the car off then restart I have no audible sound. The radio is on the cd is working but no sound is coming out. If the car sits for quite awhile when started the audio will work but again shut off the car and restart and there will be no audio. Do you have any idea what can be causing this problem. Thank You  Vince

I could only guess.  My guess is the amplifier is overheating and when it is warm it goes into protection mode preventing it from turning on until it cools down. In any event it probably needs testing to know for sure.  Might need to replace the amplifier.

Second guess is the ignition switch, again a heating problem, is not getting enough voltage on the remote turn on link to start the amplifier until the ignition switch cools down.  In this case it is the switching mechanism in the Camaro.  Try turning off the radio before shutting the car off, then when starting the car, wait until it has run for a few minutes before turning on the radio....
