Audio Systems: 2002 x-type jaguar audio systyem, x type jaguar, http www youtube

Question
Hello Mr. Mael. I purchased a used x type jaguar with a cassette deck head unit with a cd changer controller built into the head unit.

This car doesn't have a cd changer in the car, but I purchased a used unit on ebay that is bracket mounted in the left side of the trunk.

I would like to know if the factory installed the wiring connections/fiber optic cable to connect the 6 disc changer.

I also would like to know if I can connect an amplifier and suborder to the factory head unit ( I have an MB Quart 4 channel amp and an MT suborder at home ready to install.

Your response will really be appreciated.

Answer
Hi George.
While I have not been inside one of those I will try my best to guide you.
'Most' manufacturers will install that cable on the assembly line. Volvo and Bimmer do this so it is likely that Jag does it too although with the pricing of Fiber Optical cable, they may NOT.
The dealer may be able to verify this for you if you call their Service department (they may be also to help you with the external amplifier question as well).
Of course, if you feel extra froggy you could pull the headunit and try to verify this yourself.
At that point you would see if cable you need is tucked away nearby.

Here is a very nice video on how to remove the H/U.

I hope this sheds some light on the matter for you.
Thanks for choosing Allexperts and please let me know if you need any further assistance.
