Audio Systems: installing car radio, nissan maxima, bose system

Question
i removed the factory radio from my 92 maxima, which has a separate am/fm and cd player. i connected all wires from factory radio to new radio and the plug from the factory cd player has no connection. when installing the new radio do i need to connect the hornace that came from the factory cd player to anything?

Answer
Well, this is a big problem.  If you have the Bose system in your Mazima - and most of them were - then you cannot mix the system with a non-Bose head unit (new radio).  Rather, you must replace all the speaker system and other components as well.  It is not a simple matter because Bose is non-standard with the rest of the world.  Below is a link to the wiring diagram for the 92 Maxima.

You will notice the speakers have the amplifiers mounted with the speaker unit and the head end must send out pre-power level audio on a three wire network.  So, the new radio may not be compatible at all.

Here is another wiring list to help you:

Here is the installation scoop on the NON-Bose system for the Maxima:

NOW:  It is my opinion that in this case you can proceed with your new radio and the non-used cable/plug will be no conflict so long as they don't dangle and cause short circuits any where.

If you need more, please give tell me if your car is the Bose or NON-Bose car and the model number of the new radio in your followup question reply.....

Good Luck.

PS: Here is a purchasing lineup for replacement radios that might give you some further information on compatibility.
