Audio Systems: Cds to the computer?, dish soap, mild dish

Question
Hi! If I rip a cd to a computer (using FLAC) and if the cd is scratched and doesn't play so good in a normal cd player, does that mean that it does play exactly like that in the computer? I mean if the cd buzzes when i play it on the cd-player does it do the same when ripped? Thanks

Answer
Probably, yes.  The cd reader in your pc may have a better (or worse) error detection and correction system than a normal cd player but probably the result will be the same.  If the sound output has just clicks or short pops there are software programs that you can use to eliminate or "de-click" the audio.  If you are getting buzzing or other long duration noises then you cannot do much to improve on it other than getting a better disc or cd play back device.  There are other things you can do to the surface of the disc to get a better playback.  One thing that will help is to clean it thoroughly.  Just wash it gently with soft, mild dish soap and rinse with warm water.  Leave on dish rack to let it air dry.
