Audio Systems: Jeep Liberty Infinity Stereo Left Tweeter Plays Intermittently, paper cones, weather strip

Question
Audio Systems: Jeep Liberty Infinity Stereo Left Tweeter Plays Intermittently, paper cones, weather strip
Left Tweeter
My left tweeter in my 2003 Liberty intermittently does not play, but if you wait or turn the volume up it will then play and remain on. I have swapped the right and left tweeters with no change so the speaker has been eliminated. This appears likely to be something internal to the main unit amplifier unless this is a known failure and so I was wondering if you have seen this in the earlier Liberty models using (what?) model of Infinity stereo, or if there is any other item to trouble shoot that would relate to this symptom?
If not then I will need to remove and get it diagnosed.

As a secondary topic, the main speakers in the front and rear doors are well known for separating where the paper cones attach at the outer rim of the speaker housing. I have repaired them rather than spend the $150 to replace the speaker & amp in the door. I used a 3M weather strip adhesive which flows over the paper-housing gap. This is a flexible adhesive and remains so and has not failed in the same location even with the bass levels this amplifier produces. It can and will separate elsewhere so I now recommend coating as much of the outer ring the first time. There is some loss of cone excursion proportional to how much of the adhesive is applied. When this fails I hope to locate some decent higher quality speakers designed for this application, if available.

Answer
the twiter power comes from the radio not the amplifier, the door speaker power comes fromt he amplifier, i seen the twiters go bad , and if you replace it with one from the junk yard most likely they have the same aga and been in direct sun contact, that is the reason why the paper discoloration, buy a new tweter from the dealer or any brand
i replace them in my 2004 pt cruiser gt with fosgate 3.1/2 and use a 10mf capacitor to block the bass signal

the door speaker needs to be oem if possible if not look for a 1.5 to 2 ohms speakers midbass driver
no other aftermarket speaker works in our vehicles because of the infinity system

good luck
