Audio Systems: Using old stereo for playing iPod, google search, stereo cable

QUESTION: I have a Panasonic SA-PM53 stereo. I would like to hook up my iPod to it but don't know how to do it. I did a Google search for this but didn't find any answers to my specific question. If it is possible to hook up an iPod to it, what button would I press to hear what's playing on the iPod? Would I press the CD button, the Tape button, another button? Thanks.

ANSWER: This unit (if you have the PM53 and not the PM533) has on the left side of the front panel an input jack called "music port" to which the iPod audio output is connected to.  Then, you push the top button called "Music P" and away you go.

If you consult the owners manual this is found on page 13.  If you have lost the manual you can google for it and download free of charge.

Answer
The cord coming with your iPod should have a 3.5mm plug on the end.  Look at the front of your SA-PM53 and notice its hole size!  It should be a 3.5mm female jack.  

Yes, the cord you must use is a stereo cable which will match to the music port jack on the front panel.  If such a cord did not come with your iPod player you can purchase them at any audio shop or music store.  Walmart, Radio Shack, just about anyone sells them.
