Audio Systems: would a punch 1000 watt amp be too much for my 12 inch woofers, inch woofers, watt amp

yes iam looking to replace my boss amp for a more series amp.i was thinking about buying a punch 1000 watt amp.but the speakers are pioneer 12 inch 1200 watt peak with a 6 inch voice coil.and whats the best advice..

You did not provide a model number for your speakers and since I cannot find (or have ever even heard of) a Pioneer speaker with a 6" voice coil I will give you decent but generic advice.

The best advice is to use the RMS wattage rating and get an appropriate amp rated near the same RMS wattage.
Never use 'Peak' ratings or anything, period.
