Audio Systems: Trouble with Honda Pilot 2006 Rear Entertainment system w/ DVD, honda pilot 2006, honda pilot

Question
I purchased a pre-owned certified 2006 Honda Pilot EX with a rear entertainment system with DVD.  It has worked well for the last two years but recently in the winter the system did not turn on and now in the summer, as soon as I turn the car on, I can hear the system running.  We have continuously pushed the power button to turn it off but it comes right back on for about 30 minutes and than it will turn off.

I am not sure if the temperature is affecting the circuitry but I'd like to get it fixed.  I have attempted to find the make and model of the unit but have not been successful.

Answer
Temperature and humidity are enemies of dvd players.  Moisture can built up inside and cause malfunctions.  Usually, however, when the moisture dries out the player will run ok.

You may want to do a reset and see if that will bring it back to life.  A reset is accomplished by removing power from the video system for a period of 15 to 30 minutes before powering it back up.  But there may not be an easy way to do it on this vehicle.

Since I am not familiar with the whole technology of this system I want to refer you to my associate who knows well the operation of this vehicle and its video system.  He can tell you what to do to reset or whether it needs service.

You can find him at:

Hope this helps.
