Audio Systems: upgrading 2008 Chevy Cobalt stereo, Chevy Cobalt radio amplifier ipod

Question
QUESTION: I want to get my daughter a better stereo for her H.S. graduation
present and I know very little on how to go about this. I live away from her as well, and will need a trustworthy tech to do this.
She lives in the Houston area, so I thought about setting this up with Best Buy, but I don't even know what is possible for her car.
(2007 Chevy Cobalt LT). Maybe adding an amplifier with new speakers? Or should I skip it? Who should I trust to do this?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Sincerely!

ANSWER: what radio is in the vehicle at the moment?  there are modules to add amplifiers
is the radio xm ready ?

did you know that the vehicle warnings work using the radio, the engine oil life is show on the radio display
and all the other warnings also use the radio  like key on ignition, lights on and air bag warnings

QUESTION: Thank you much for the reply. I appreciate it. She has the stock radio that came with the car, so based on you previous answer, the thing to do would be add a module for and amp, etc. Is that right? I think this is possibly the model numbers for the stock radio:
* Ident: 25780212
Product Code: R-1464
I didn't know about the all the lights and indicators that depend on the radio, so your help is great!!

Answer
That is a nice radio, keep it in the vehicle maybe add a small 4 channels amplifier  for better sound or a single channel and a small 8 or 10 inch single woofer
you will need a PAC module  c2a-gm24 it provides you with the rca audio and remote turn on for  the amplifier

you can also add a ipod interface, most kids have ipods and the ipod will show up on the radio screen
full ipod controls from the cobalt radio and the steering controls, that way she is not looking at the ipod when driving
