Audio Systems: Durability Follow up, google, cutter machine

Question
Okay, can sound be recorded directly to a vinyl or shellac record?

Answer
Yes, of course.  Years ago you could purchase a recording apparatus that could record the grooves real time in a blank disc.  The discs were made of plastic coated aluminum platters.

Here is a cutter machine:

There may be others.  You can google around and find all kinds of "stuff".

All the best.
