Audio Systems: 2003 xtype jaguar stereo, metal chassis, power amp

Question
i had gone to the dealer and had them check out my stereo . and they had informed me my amp. was out. So I installed a new one.But now my speakers in the doors don't work ,all 4 of them , but my tweeters do.I saw that some one else was having the same problem. But did not see the answer.

Answer
Well, this is straight forward testing to find out what the problem is:

ONE:  Check to make sure the power amp feeding the dead speakers has power.  Best way is to use a VOM (Walmart and Home Depot sell a nice little VOM perfect for this kind of checking for under $10) to check the 12v line coming from the battery and the remote turn ON wire coming from the ignition or the head unit.

TWO:  Check the ground connection for the amp making sure it is a solid connection to the metal chassis.

THREE:  If the amp is not turning on find out why.  Fuse?  Shorted speaker wires causing protection mode shut down? etc.

FOUR:  Test with separate stand-alone speaker connected right at the output of the amp to see if the amp is working properly.

FIVE:  With ohmmeter section of VOM check the wiring from output of the amp to the speakers.  Could be open connector that the car dealer did not reconnect or something like that.

Since all 4 speakers are not working it is most likely something that is keeping the amp from coming ON or an open connector that is somewhere between the amp and speakers.

It is likely the tweeters are driven by a separate amp = that is why they are working okey.  If this is so, you could switch the output of the tweeter amp to the door speakers to see if that is working thus verifying the wiring - and so forth.

Hope these ideas give you a way of troubleshooting the system.  Let me  know how it goes!

PS: BTW, car dealers very rarely have audio specialists on staff and if not you are much better off to go to a local install/repair shop rather than the car dealer.
