Audio Systems: install of aftermaket radio, bose system, aftermarket radio

I have a 04 chevy silverado with on star and bose sound.I just bought a new aftermarket radio a kenwoood model #KDC-MP245 and also bought the harness to hook it in.The trouble im haveing is when all hooked up the sound cuts off completely.

It depends on the Bose system you have as most Bose units are incompatible with other aftermarket products.

Check the speakers in your Silverado.  You may find the final stage of the amplifier is mounted on the speaker basket. This is famous Bose method and is totally different concept from other makers.

In most cases to upgrade a Bose system you have to complete rip out the system and start from scratch with all new electronics, speakers and some of the wiring.

I suggest you get second opinion from Ernesto  who has better experience with these installations than I.
