Audio Systems: Problem with JBL audio system of Toyota Highlander, toyota highlander 2008, toyota highlander 2008 model

Question
I have a Toyota Highlander, 2008 model having audio system with navigation system. Recently, the audio system would just go off- no sound. When it is off, if I try to adjust the volume control, it does not show on the display and volume would remain off until when it comes up again on its own. Sometimes it would come on with a fixed volume. Recently, it started generating nuisance alarm inside the car so I removed the AMP fuse. Could you please advise on what could be wrong.

Answer
This is a complicated system where there are many power related interconnections.  It has been a very reliable system mostly and Toyota dealers have had good results with the JBL designs.

I think you should take it to a shop that works on JBL custom systems for testing.  Most Toyota service shops do not have audio specialists on staff, but some do. So,  check and find one that does have a qualified JBL technician available.

It must be tested and the problem isolated.  It is likely to be loss of  power to the amplifier or control panel.

Sorry.

PS: You can get a second opinion from Ernesto on Allexperts who works on these cars and has hands-on experience with them.
