Audio Systems: Car stereo, dodge durango, car stereos

Question
I own a 2003 Dodge Durango with an infinity stereo system. When I start the car the radio is working fine and then a few minutes down the road the radio stops working (no sound). The funny thing is the radio has power to it but I just can't hear the sound. I went to best buy and purchased a Kenwood radio that they installed. After installation, the new radio had power but no sound. The tech told me it was a bad amp and he would have to replace the speaker wires. Is this true? Will the Kenwood radio work after they replace the speaker wires? I was also told that if they replace the wires, I would still need the new radio that the old infinity would not work. Please give me your expert advice.

Thank you,
John

Answer
There is no need to replace any wires, they are crazy and don't know what to do, there is nothing wrong with your radio the problem is the infinity amplifier because it gets water or soda  from the rear seat passangers,
the amplifier is under the seat and it will need to be replace or repair, sometimes you can find them on ebay for under $50.00

If they run new wire to the speaker , yes it will work but only for a few hours or days, all the speakers in your vehicle are 1.5 to 2 ohms , because of that it will damage the new radio and wil go quiet again after spending all that money,

also most car stereos are 4 cahnnels only , in your vehicle there are 8 speakers,
there are 2 woofers on the doors, they are not full range speakers

good luck
