Audio Systems: crossovers, speaker stereo system, rear decks

Question
I have a 99 pont grand am and it has tweeters in the doors near the mirrors and one at the bottom right corner
and the rear deck looks like it has and sounds like it has mid range speakers separated from tweeters I was just wondering if the stock 1.5 din cd radio has a crossover built in or is it there one inline somewhere .
come to find out (thanks to one of you guys )I know my amp has a high input connection and will be hooking up soon and wanted to know if I should expect mids and highs trying to play through as well .

your help would be great thanks  Spider

Answer
The stock OEM headunit did NOT have crossovers in them.

Factory in 99 was a simple, fading , four speaker stereo system:

In-dash stereo
   5-23/32" depth; Size code E,GC,S,U

Front speakers
   Front Door: 4x6"

Rear speakers
   Rear Deck: 6x9"

If it has tweeters in the top of the doors, it is not a factory speaker setup. You will have to dig in and see what is going on. I would imagine they would be ran off of the two front channels along with the lower door speakers. Those aftermarket tweeters may or may not have inline crossovers on them.  If they were expensive models, they probably do though (or at least should).

The same could have happened at the rear deck (separates), but again you will have to dig in to see. Be sure you have the correct Torx™ wrench to remove the upper-rear-seat-cushion/seat-belt-retaining bolts located at the bottom of the rear seatback. Those rear decks are quite a pain.
The stock deck is crap, 11 years old and should be replaced (so you may as well get one with RCA jacks for FAR better amplified sound from your amp)!
