Audio Systems: New speakers not working, rockford speakers, rockford fausgate

Question
I have a 1998 toyota 4 runner with a BOSS bv220 touch screen head unit,i installed ROCKFORD FAUSGATE POWER door speakers all the way arround the deck says it pushes 80 watts x 4 channels and the speakers are 60 watt rms and 120 peak after the install they sounded great all that day and half of the next i turned my truck off and when i went to restart it there is no sound from any speakers except my 15" kicker l7 a friend told me that i may have burned the amp in the deck out and if i did then i could hook up a equlizer instead of replacing the deck i just want to make shure this will work before i waste my money  any help would be greatly appreciated   -THANK YOU-

Answer
I don't have any information on the bv220.  But, you probably have an impedance mismatch between the output amplifiers in the BOSS and the Rockford speakers.  That could overpower the amps.  But, usually they go into protection before they blow.  Try a reset and see if that does not bring it back to life.  To reset the amp by pulling the 12v line for 20 minutes and repower it.

If you hook up an equalizer what would you do with it?  I would suggest otherwise: Assuming the audio line outputs are working - just add an external amp to drive the RF speakers.  You don't need an equalizer for this.

But, check out the deck first; no sense replacing it or adding an amplifier if it is still working.

Good Luck.
