Audio Systems: 2004 Hyundai XG 350L cassette player, hyundai car dealer, hyundai xg

Question
Hello Cleggsan. I noticed the other morning that my cassette player wasn't working and showed "Er8" when i tried to play music out of it and it did not work properly.I looked up how to fix it and found answers like: unhook the negative cable for a few minutes then rehook it and also i found hold the eject button but nothing has worked. If you have any expertise or know anybody who does on how to fix it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time and have a good day. If you need anymore info just let me know and i'll be happy to tell you.

Answer
Unhooking the negative cable is to reset the internal electronics of the player.

Holding the eject button or other buttons is for mechanical/mechanism reset.

The error message "Er8" is the code produced by the diagnostics of the player electronics. It means, according to the Hyundai literature that the tape is stuck and will not eject on its own OR that the temperature inside has gotten too hot.

See the above.

Try the pushing the eject button again and with the door open so you can see in determine if the tape is trying to come out.  If you have some long instrument that you can use to nudge the cassette a little without causing any damage, try that.

In the worst case the unit will have to be pulled out of the dash; opened up and mechanical manipulation of the mechanism to remove the cassette and determine if damage has been done to the works inside.

Hope this helps.

PS: Do not take it to a Hyundai car dealer as they generally do not have entertainment system experts on staff.  If you cannot solve it by yourself take it to a local install/repair shop that specializes in car audio as they face these kinds of problems every day.
