Audio Systems: headrest tv, how to install headrest monitors, headrest tvs

Question
hi, i am asking a question for a friend...he has a bmw 525...2006 i believe...and he had 2 headrest tvs installed...i am not sure where they hook up, but each are individually...i think...they each have a dvddrive...and the brand is specman.
the guy who installed it for him isnt around anymore..so he asked me.
i think the wiring might be inside the seats...

but one screen has power, and the other doesnt...neither will play anything tho.

and it is not hooked up to the cd player in the dash.

what can we do or what can be wrong?

thanks

Answer
Well, these are medium priced video headrest display panels and dvd players.  They are usually installed as stand alone play back systems not connected with the OEM system of the car.

You should be able to remove them from the back seats and take them in for servicing.  Or, you can drive into an install/repair facility and have them checked out.   Since they are mostly just direct install with connection to power there is no great science in troubleshooting them and getting them repaired - or more likely -  replaced.

Here is a tutorial that may be useful in determining how the units were in stalled and how one might go about troubleshooting them.

Without having a model number this is about as far as I can go today.  Wishing you well.
