Audio Systems: lights dimming, long periods of time, power cap

Question
hello. I have installed a sound system in my 07 dodge pick up and the lights go dim when the bass kicks in, i have put in a capacitor and shined up my grounding points but still the light go dim what can i do? please

Answer
Putting in the capacitor may help with bass sound but will not, in the long run, save any energy requirements from the battery system.

Since you did not give me any information about the amp, speakers or the power cap size I can only guess the nature of the problem.

The main cause of lights dimming, assuming the installation is correct in all ways, is due to insufficient battery size.  The solution is always to increase the battery capacity and install an oversize alternator.  You may be able to get by with just a larger capacity battery, but if you run the bass for long periods of time it will likely discharge the battery and perhaps overload the existing alternator.

Bass music requires huge amounts of current from the battery system.  If you have a big amp - of over 400 watts, lets say - it is very much a foregone conclusion that some upgrade of the vehicle power system may be necessary.
