Audio Systems: How to connect hi lo adapter, infinity system, infinity sound

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram with the infinity system, I need to add the hi lo adapter to the subwoofer. I tried to connect it to the back of the head unit and I cannot control the volume on the subwoofer. I also tried to connect from the hi lo adapter from the rear speaker wires and this caused there to be no volume. How does this need to be connected in order to work correctly

you can't do that, there is data on all the wires because the vehicles computer and infinity sound system
