Audio Systems: Best 3000 Watt Amp, power caps, watt amp

Question
I'm in the market for the best 3000watt amp to power my 2 15inch brutus subs, what would you subject? I'm looking at QCA3000D, BXI2610D, Plam3000, PYRAMID Classic don't know the number, Power Acoustik or any thing else you can think of, want the best amp for under $400. thanks.

Answer
I don't like to give out product recommendations because there are so many subjective factors involved.

May I suggest you go to the online reviews and read through them.  The Quantum 3000 is highly rated by those that I have read.

But, there are many factors to consider:  Physical size/mounting space, configuration for running the wires, color, impedance output match to speaker systems, if power caps are being used, heat ventilation, battery/alternator sufficiency and so on.

I suggest that whatever you do make sure your battery and alternator can handle the job. For amps of this size it is often necessary to switch over to a heavy duty alternator and battery system.  A 3kw amp can draw lots of current from the battery and quickly discharge the system.  Theoretical power, if driven to full 3kw would draw over 200 amps.  Under music conditions the average would be much less, but you are still looking at a big load on the car's electrical system.

Good Luck with your installation.

PS: Most class D amps run very efficient and can work best power transfer when the load is about 1 ohm.  If your subs are connected for higher impedance you won't get that much power out.
