Audio Systems: Gerneral Information., watts rms, mono amp

Question
I am planning on buying two Infinity Reference 1250, and
putting them into a Ground Shaker SQP212. First question, is
that a good combination? Second, i'm not sure what kind of
amp I need to buy. I've heard that for that kind of system,
a 1000 watt amp would be good. Opinion? I mainly listen to Techno. Also, I am new to this. So if you could help me out
in any way, thank you.

Answer
The Ground Shaker SQP212 is not a 'good' enclosure from what info I can find on them. 'Guesswork' at what a box will do with certain speakers speakers mounted in it is NO fun at any pricerange!~
Is it a good combo? It 'could' be.
Consider this one:
What kind of performance and sound quality are you expecting from a 110 dollar pair of 12" subs mounted into a 150 dollar prefab box?
I could ask 12 people and get 12 entirely different answers.
Sadly, it would be the same issue if I asked them to define what good audio or good bass was.

The infinity's are 300 watts RMS each. If you will be listening to music  RMS wattage is all you need to worry about. RMS = Root Mean Square which equates to Continuous or Average wattage.
A Class A/B 150-200 watt RMS stereo amp (bridged to mono for about 450-600 watts RMS) would be perfect for them. You could go with 400-600 watt Class D mono amp as well. It really depends on a lot of factors including your charging system and budget.
How they will sound in the box is anybodys' guess until you try it (especially in a ported box).
If you cannot afford a custom, sealed enclosure for the Infinitys' (the way to go) I would suggest hitting a few audio forums, looking over the threads, seeing  which speakers other people are (sucessfully) using in that box and go with that. Search threads or even post a new one asking. I certainly think someone could build a box for them that would make Mr Infinity proud for well under $100.
As to audio, no new idea is ever wrong until proven wrong..but you can spend years running in circles trying to prove it CAN work well. Mixing/matching AND guessing? I have learned to steer clear of that in most cases!
Why not just buy the speakers and have a shop build you a good enclosure for them with the 150.00 you'll save on the prefab?

Since there are no specifications given for the box I cannot assist you (with any certainty) as to how them Infinitys will sound once mounted. You will be best off finding someone that is using/has used the box successfully.

I can only assist you fully if the manufacturers will all provide the needed specifications.
Wish I could do more.
Read this, think about your objectives and the options I have given.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
