Hey there, I thought the tweeter on my driver side door was blown so I replaced it and am still getting broken up static type sound from it when the volume gets turned loud enough. Its working, but poorly. What could this problem be?


Answer
It could be a damaged passive crossover inline with that tweeter or you are using more power than that crossover can handle.
It may be a pinched speaker wire to the tweeter or even a bad channel on the amp which powers it.
That is about as well as I can guess without seeing it in person.
Remember that the impedance of the replacement tweeter must be the same as the original for the crossover to work as intended.
