Audio Systems: turntable amplifier input jacks, mineral oil base, amplifier input

Question
QUESTION: the turntable amplifier input jacks on my AWA stereo integrated amplifier STA-07 produce pure sound from R speaker and broken sound from L speaker, with any combination of inputs from turntable including L and R plugs inserted separately.
Does this sound like a simple or complicated fix?
I know nothing about electronics but I am happy to take the back off if I have some idea of what might be wrong.
regards
Don

ANSWER: it depends on how you select phono. if it's a mechanical switch,(push button or rotary type) you can take covers off and spray some contact cleaner into it, work switch in and out or rotate switch back and forth several times to clean it, if not it will need servicing by a shop. hope this helps...garry... also clean your volume control, as it may be the culprit.

QUESTION: that sounds doable Garry.

I have a purchasing choice here ( in Australia) of a Switch Cleaner Lubricant or a CO Contact Cleaner (CRC brand products).

Which is the more versatile, should I have need to clean other connections in future?

thanks
Don

Answer
it needs to have a mineral oil base so it will last. the one i've found to last the best is GC electronics De-Ox-Id, in the red can. here in the u.s. it runs about $12US for a 4 ounce spray can, and you only need a little 'spritz' of it. it smells a little like 'ben-gay' ointment, but it works great...garry..the crc brand wont last long at all as it is more like 'wd-40', and leaves very little lubricant behind...
