Audio Systems: ford taurus 2000 radio, old factory radio, oem

Question
I need an RCU  YF1F18C851AA..........suggestions please

Answer
Thanks for the question, Henry.

If you are trying to repair or 'resurrect' a 19 year old factory system, I would not suggest to do so (and for many reasons).
RCU's are generally radio control units, meaning they are one component of the audio system. Even if you want to repair the unit (and not replace it), the costs involved could be staggering unless you can find one for parts and repair it yourself. *Of course, if a used one was still operational, you should just try installing it.
If you cannot find the part used or if that is not an option, you will be trying to find a new replacement at a Dealer which is not likely going to be a fruitful effort. In any case, with a vehicle at 19 years of age, DO NOT let the dealer attempt repairs on any mobile audio device. After giving them much more money than it is worth, you will just end up with a 99% 19-year-old component when you get it back.

I would have to suggest that you get hold of the people at www.crutchfield.com and tell them what you want to do. They will let you know the viable options and costs up front to replace part or all of this factory system.

This may not be the exact advice you were looking for but it is my best advice if I understand your situation correctly.
If you must have the factory system fully operational, be ready to spend some ridiculous amounts of cash. It is possible that the one RCU could cost more than an entire (aftermarket) upgrade.

Sincerely,
