Audio Systems: Tape Jammed in 1997 Buick LeSabre, buick lesabre, mechanisim

Hi, I have a '97 LeSabre with a Delco am/fm/
cassette part#16249414.

This cassette player is a side load, and I've had
a tape stuck in there for about 2 weeks.  I don't wanna yank it out and damage the stereo, but it's driving me crazy.  I push eject, and it just makes a lot of hums and clicks, like it's trying to eject the tape, but nothing.  I've removed the stereo from the car and replaced it, but I'd really like to get the tape out of there since it's one of those cassette adapters for a cd player.

through very careful disassembly of unit is only way. since you've replaced it, it won't really matter if you can't get it back together. get covers off, then remove face plate, you might have to remove cassette mechanisim as a unit and disassemble from there. shouldn't take more than an hour.....good luck......
