Audio Systems: FM/AM sound works but not AUX, USB or CD., sony cdx, iphone

HI, I installed a Sony CDX-GT630UI car radio and while the FM/AM works
perfectly neither the USB/AUX or CD sound works. For instance, the player can
detect my Iphone, display the song title and even the equalizer visualization but
not sound. Is the sound wiring different for AM/FM than CD/AUX or USB ?

Let me assume you have the owners manual

with all the installation instructions, precautions and commentary about installation in various kinds of automobiles.

If you purchased this unit from Crutchfield they would have supplied you with installation details and  all the wiring harnesses you need for your car.

Based on your symptoms I suspect one of the remote wires from ignition to the head unit has not been made.

I refer you to page 3 of the installation/connections section of the manual (page 29).

The iPhone volume is set by the iphone, not the radio; so make sure you have the sound turned up on the iphone.

See pages 16 and 17 for setting up aux input for volume and audio level.
