Audio Systems: Home audio, bose 901 speakers, bose 901

Question
Hi Wayne,
I recently purchased a Sony KDL52XBR6HDTV. I have an older (15+ yrs) Pioneer receiver w/surround sound with Bose 901 speakers front, 201's rear. The 901's requires the use of a Bose equalizer which I have hooked into the Pioneer. I have a Blue Ray unit connected to the TV via an HDMI connector. I have the Pioneer receiver connected to the TV through the RCA type jacks. I have to turn up the volume quite a bit on the receiver to get it loud enough to appreciate. That creates some hiss. Is there a better way to hook up the TV/receiver? I'm going to get a Sony sound system eventually but I'd like to be able to use my old system for the time being.
Thank you in advance for your help.
John

Answer
Are you trying to get all programming & the Blu-Ray audio through the receiver, or just the Blu-Ray?

As it stands, I don't think you'll be able to do much about the hiss. For the Blu-Ray audio, I'd run it directly to the receiver if you have a digital input for it (or individual lines for each channel)
